July 1999, includes newly remodeled guest rooms, 21 Jacuzzi
suites, 15 ocean-front supersuites; redesign of casino floor,
three new restaurants, new entrance,
hotel lobby, and opening of entertainment club> The
Theater showroom seats 1,350, hosts headliner entertainment,
shows and special events>
Following 1978 opening, one of most profitable
casino-hotels until financial difficulties caused by cost
overruns, construction delays on massive new Taj Mahal project
initially developed as second Resorts Atlantic City
casino-hotel> 1986 death of majority owner James Crosby led
to succession of outside takeover attempts, with DONALD
TRUMP acquiring major stock interest 1987> Merv Griffin
countered Trump offer for remaining shares 1988, ultimate
resolution led to Griffin acquiring Resorts, sale by Resorts of
Taj Mahal project to Trump, with Griffin operating Resorts until
1996 sale to Sun International.

after reaching settlement with Park Place, led to 2001 approval of
Park Place
acquisition of Claridge> Icahn announced plan to build new
282- room hotel tower, expand casino and make other improvements> Herbert Wolfe named president
